- An overview of in-vehicle networking and the specific role of CAN
- Fundamental concepts of the CAN protocol
- Message framing, arbitration processes, and standard/extended identifiers
- Key mechanisms including bit stuffing, CRC, ACK, and intermission
- Exploring the physical and data link layers
- Bus properties, network topology, and termination strategies
- Error handling mechanisms within CAN
Day 2 – Practical CAN Communication
- Types of CAN messages: Data, Remote, Error, and Overload
- Configuring bit timing and bus speed
- Factors influencing bus load and latency
- Introduction to diagnostic protocols operating over CAN (UDS, OBD-II)
Day 3 – Getting Started with CANoe
- A general overview of CANoe’s capabilities and typical applications
- Project initialization: setup, configuration, and simulation nodes
- Creating and utilizing the trace window and panels
- Traffic analysis techniques using filtering and logging tools
- Managing simulation blocks and their configurations
Day 4 – Advanced CANoe & CAPL Programming
- Introduction to CAPL (Communication Access Programming Language)
- Understanding structure, syntax, and event-driven programming
- Developing CAPL scripts for simulation and fault injection scenarios
- Simulating ECU behaviors, gateway functions, and diagnostics
- Automating test processes and generating reports
- Best practices for debugging and long-term maintenance
